E-commerce platforms Flipkart and Amazon have stopped delivering non-essential good in Delhi after the lockdown was imposed in the city by the government. On Monday, a lockdown was enforced in Delhi, which will be lifted at 5 a.m. on April 26. The government has only permitted the distribution of critical goods under the new lockdown guidelines. Earlier, Maharashtra had suspended the delivery of non-essential goods through e-commerce.
“Customers trust Amazon.in to safely deliver all items according to their respective needs,” an Amazon India spokesperson said in a statement. We are currently allowing critical product deliveries in accordance with new government guidelines. However, over the last year, we've heard from customers that urgent needs differ by household, making it difficult to identify a static necessities list. We request the Delhi Government to allow delivery and inter / intra state movement of all products to enable people to maintain social distancing norms.
Ecommerce is the safest way to satisfy consumers’ needs while promoting livelihoods of lakhs of small & medium businesses including the local shops.”
Flipkart has yet to comment on the situation.
Food, medications, and medical devices are examples of non-essential products. Other goods will be accepted by Amazon and Flipkart, but delivery will be slower than before the lockdown. After the lockdown is removed, there's a fair chance you'll get your products. Food distribution platforms, on the other hand, will continue to supply food during the state-imposed lockdowns.
