Spotify and Facebook have teamed up to allow users to listen to music and podcasts on the social media platform.

Spotify announced a partnership with Facebook on Monday that will enable users to listen to music and podcasts directly from the social network's iOS and Android apps.

Last week, Facebook announced plans to introduce a number of audio items, including Clubhouse-style live audio rooms and a way for users to find and listen to podcasts.

Spotify said in a statement that the new integration is now available in 27 countries, including the United States and Canada, with more markets to follow in the coming months.

Spotify's paying users will be able to listen to the entire album without interruptions and without having to leave the Facebook app.

Apple announced last week that it would begin offering podcast subscriptions, allowing users to pay to gain access to new content and other perks such as ad-free listening, putting the company in direct competition with Spotify.

Both Spotify and Facebook have been battling Apple on various fronts, ranging from iOS privacy updates to the 30% fee charged to app developers to use Apple's in-app payment scheme.

Apple claims that its App Store aided Spotify in becoming Europe's largest music streaming service by allowing it to profit from hundreds of millions of app downloads.
