To commemorate World Book Day on April 23, Amazon is giving away ten free Kindle ebooks in India. For users in India, the books are available in English, and those with Amazon accounts will be able to download them for free to their computers. They can read the free ebooks on a Kindle or Amazon Fire tablet, or on their smartphones using the Kindle app. On April 25, at 12:29 p.m. (IST), this free Kindle ebook offer will expire.
All Amazon.in customers who have set "India" as their current country of use in their Amazon.in account settings are eligible for this deal, according to a microsite created by Amazon.
The ten ebooks can be downloaded from the microsite, but this deal is non-transferable and cannot be resold, according to Amazon. The books were selected from various parts of the globe.
Among the titles on the list are Enjeela Ahmadi-The Miller's Broken Circle: A Memoir of Escaping Afghanistan, Alexander Munninghoff's The Son and Heir: A Memoir Kindle Edition, Maria Wernicke's Some Days Kindle Edition, and Zhang Ling's A Single Swallow. Any of these books have been translated.
A new update for Amazon's Kindle and Audible platforms was also released recently. Users of the Amazon Kindle will now set the cover of the book they're reading as their lockscreen wallpaper. The functionality is available on the Kindle (8th and 10th generations), Kindle Paperwhite (7th and 10th generations), Kindle Oasis (8th, 9th, and 10th generations), and Kindle Voyage (8th, 9th, and 10th generations) (7th Gen). On the e-commerce site, users can easily check whether their Kindle computer is eligible. On qualifying devices, the new Show Cover choice can be found in Settings. Users can also delete lockscreen advertisements for $20 (roughly Rs. 1,500).
